Good Day, Good Friday!

Well I did it! At 2.30am this morning, I officially completed my first ever quilt for my gorgeous nephew. It has been such a joy to make! I honestly thought that I would not succeed and end up with a heap of fabric sitting on the shelf to "one day" be finished. But no. I DID IT! Today is indeed, a good Friday. And here is the evidence...

I am now in the process of making another 3 quilts and yesterday bought a pattern for my fourth... I am also eyeing up a fifth and might succumb to buying the pattern and material for it when I go to buy more fabric later next week. Yes I am addicted, but oh how I love being crafty!

Other than quilting and work I have been busy with the usual preparations for Easter. I head back to work tomorrow, but will have the mornings free so will have the opportunity to spend some time at home. As per tradition I have made my 'nieces' their noodle boxes full of chocolate goodies - I forgot to take photos this morning, but will try and remember tomorrow. As much as stockings are tradition for Christmas time, so have these noodle boxes become tradition for us at Easter. I am hoping to be home for morning tea on Sunday, purely so I can witness and photograph Caitie's delight in her egg hunt.

I have also started a new layout of Caitie playing hairdresser's on Australia Day. But now that I'm back at work, it may take me a while to finish it... but I will most certainly show you the final result once I'm done!

In the meantime here are my latest PAD pics:

April 7th

Every time we get heavy rain a 'lake' forms at the bottom of our front yard, it's so sweet seeing the local family of ducks taking a paddle.

April 8th

Hard at it sewing the quilt.

April 9th

Winter's on the way... first time this year wearing my
Canterbury jersey.

April 11th

Was so excited when my latest Dorothy Perkins purchases arrived.

April 13th
Lying in bed at the end of my shift in the dorm.

April 14th

The evening sky on the drive home... it was such a beautiful sunset.

April 15th
Traffic first thing in the morning... and Main Roads was clever enough to arrange roadworks during peak hour on the only road out of our suburb!

April 16th
Hand-stitching the binding on the quilt.

April 19th
I can't believe how expensive chocolate eggs are at Easter... it's almost double the cost of buying chocolate as a block. If only my mental health didn't require regular doses of Cadbury I'd protest and boycott the company, haha.

April 20th

The little nest of goodies inside each girl's noodle box.

April 21st
I spent today with Bec and we had homemade salmon sandwiches with lettuce fresh from her vege patch... they were the yummiest sandwiches too!

April 22nd
My little Missy-Moo before I dried her off after her bath this morning. Poor little thing.

I hope that this Easter brings you much love and happiness. Easter is such a special time and a reminder to us all of how important life is and how lucky we are to be blessed by the grace of God. May this Easter help you to find inner peace, acceptance and serenity. Enjoy everyday, cherish every moment with those that you love and take a moment to celebrate the simple things in life.

Love and peace always,

Quilting, Holidays, PAD & More!

Sorry for the lack in posts, but these past few weeks I have caught a bug... the quilting bug! I am so absolutely addicted that I've been pushing scrapping to the side to play with fabrics (but only temporary... I hope). I showed you a sneak peek in my last post of the quilt I'm making for my baby nephew, which is coming along nicely. I signed up for a beginner class at a cute little quilting shop in town (Peppermint Stitches) and have loved every minute!!! There's 2 weeks between each lesson - to give us enough time to finish our 'homework' - but I'm loving it so much I usually have it done by the next day.

I've also been on school holidays for the past couple of weeks, which has been just lovely. I must admit that I'm missing my students, but it has been great spending time at home and relaxing. Sleep-ins have been a delightful treat! I forgot what it was like to wake up to the sound of the birds and not screaming teenage girls, haha. The weekend before term ended I very cleverly managed to break my toe at work... word of warning: stop walking when looking backwards talking to a student - otherwise you will not win the fight with a stationary couch!

But enough about my happenings. I'm sure you'd love to see my next installment of PAD pics, right?! Well here they are, enjoy!

March 16th
My car keys

March 17th
Popped into mum at work to have lunch with her... another addiction of mine!

March 18th

I took a bunch of students to a football game. Up until that day I had never been to a football game (with the exception of a mate's local footy game at the school sports field). I was surprised by how much I enjoyed myself and even found myself cheering for the team... however the players did make it a little easier to bear - buff boys in tight shorts, yummy!

The quilt coming along

March 21st
Each time I go to the UK I shop a little too much and have to post stuff back to myself. I was so excited to have this waiting for me at the top of the drive! It was like Christmas ☺

March 22nd
Flowers I bought for mum to get well soon.

March 24th
After breaking my left little toe, I managed to stub my big right toe... let's just say I had a bad 72hrs when it came to my toes.

March 26th
Drinkies!

April 2nd
This is the sign on my bathroom door at home. Mum bought it for me when I was a kid and it's always bugged me that I put it up crooked - not that you can tell in this pic.

April 3rd
One of the things on my to-do list these holidays was to sort out my wardrobe. So I emptied out all my clothes onto my bedroom floor... they stayed there for the past 3 days until I finally had the energy to sort through. Would just like to say that I managed to fill 4 rubbish bags full of clothes for St. Vinnies - go me!

April 4th
My faithful sewing machine. Mum bought me this 11yrs ago when I started high school and it still the bomb!

April 6th
My scrap/craft table as it is tonight.

Hope your life is currently full of love and happiness.
See you soon,
