Work in Progress...

Well this last week I have finally got around to starting one of the goals I made at the beginning of the year and here is a sneak peek... This latest project of mine is being made with much love for my nephew Wolfie.

Also last week I went with my best friend Jane up to Bundaberg. This was a very quick trip, but we had such an amazing time and it was so wonderful to be able to have many special moments together. When we were in high school we both loved Missy Higgins and this has continued to now. When in uni her album, On A Clear Night, was so relevant. The song Sugarcane was particularly special for Jane and I. It represented everything we were experiencing at the time -finding ourselves, pleasing others, growing up, hiding from our fears. I remember, when we graduated we wanted to give each other a sugarcane plant as a gift. When I went to the local nursery the woman just laughed when I asked to buy one. She said if I wanted a sugarcane plant I needed to head up north to Bundy and dig one up from a plantation. We settled for a hibiscus plant instead. But one day. One day we would be able to share the significance of a sugarcane plant. And that one day came last week. As we headed further and further north the plantations began and soon we were immersed in sugarcane country. This is how we celebrated...

(March 4th - Bundaberg Sugarcane Plantation)

I have been trying my best at keeping up my PAD photos... But I must confess I have been a bit slack of late. Below are the photos for the days I've remembered to snap.

February 24th
My purchases from Ikea assembled in my room at the school. Finally a place for my tea and photos of my little ones.

February 25th
My desk/pin board in my room at school.

March 3rd
The long drive up to Bundaberg... have never seen the sat-nav show so many Kms before.

March 3rd
While in Bundaberg I was able to tick off one of my life dreams... We saw baby turtles hatch on the beach at night. Absolutely amazing and so beautiful.

March 4th
The road sign by the sugarcane plantation.

March 4th
The final tally once arriving home from Bundaberg - one of the longest drives I have ever done!

March 9th
Went for breakky in New Farm and thought it was funny walking back to my car to find another 2 black mercs parked beside me.

March 10th

Snuggle time with a poorly Miss C... sniffles are not fun for little ones, but it certainly makes them more cuddly ☺

So that is all for now. Will try and do some scrapping soon and share my creativity with you all.

Photo-a-Day Quickie

Quick update of my recent PAD pics... will try and do a proper post soon - have some layouts to share...

February 14th
Valentine's Day I was babysitting and after spoiled myself to another pedi (I think I'm addicted). But in the evening the parentals and I decided to go to the movies and saw The King's Speech. We made a late-night stop on the way home to fill our empty tummies...

February 16th
I'd been wanting to buy this book all over the Christmas holiday, but everywhere seemed to be sold out in Jersey. I've finally started reading it and it's an absolute laugh!

February 17th/18th
At 1:30 in the morning I was woken by a scream followed by a knock on my dorm door. When I got up I was greeted with a bunch of terrified teenage girls who informed me that there was a possum in the boarding house. After a half hour chase around all of the junior dorms I caught the scared little thing and hooshed him out a window - but not before he left me a little memento...

February 19th
My bestie Melissa and her partner have moved up from Melbourne for a year (YAY YAY YAY!). We went down to the coast for a day and had dinner at one of the tepanyaki bars. No matter how many times I go to these I'm always amazed at their skills!

February 20th
When hanging out with Becky and Caitie we found a little cricket that had lost his back legs. Caitie was well impressed.

February 22nd
Becky, Caitie and I had a lovely morning tea at one of our favourite cafes. Miss was in such a cheeky mood but oh so cute!

February 23rd

The girls from work and I went shopping at Ikea. Of course I bought more than I needed, but my dorm room is now finally feeling like home.

Sorry this is quick... will be better next time,

Photo-a-Day Valentine's Love ♥

The past week to ten days has been rather hectic for me. One of the girls from work and I decided to organise a Valentine's Day High Tea for the junior girls in the boarding house. Add to the mix another chest infection and you have a very stressed, exhausted me at the end of it all. But it was such a fabulous morning - even if I do say so myself. The room was a wash of hearts and pinkness. The tables filled with delectable delights and pink 'champagne' (lemonade with strawberry essence and mint). The soft, gentle sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Buble (of course Nerina was in the mix too) flowed in the air. Then the girls entered in their beautiful dresses and the room was filled with happy, giggly girlieness. A sheet hung on the outside wall, with a handmade heart garland, provided the perfect setting for a "Valentine's Photo-Shoot"... I truly do love high teas for all their girly, floral delights.

Below is my next round of PAD pics. (Due to my being sick, there is a lack of photos this past fortnight).

February 4th
Local business showing their support to those up north with Cyclone Yasi on it's way.

February 5th
Cupcake that one of my students made me - just because. ♥

February 7th
My chest infection forced me to the couch... and attached to the tissue box.

February 11th
The heart garlands that I handmade (using my Spellbinders Die Cuts and Cuttlebug) for the high tea.

February 12th
The main table at the high tea... pink perfectness!

February 13th
My yummy crême bruleé at today's lunch to celebrate dad's birthday.

Hope you like the pics. May tomorrow (and everyday) be filled with much love, happiness and special times with loved ones.

Love & peace,
